DIANE PONTIOUS
FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

Diane Pontious
Photographer & Writer
For more than three decades, I’ve worked in conversation with light - sometimes chasing it, sometimes waiting for it, but always learning to listen.
I studied photography at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where I learned that craft and intuition can share the same frame.
For over 15 years, I photographed major events at Mohegan Sun Casino, capturing movement, rhythm, and the instant between anticipation and applause. Those years taught me discipline and timing, how to find form inside motion, and meaning inside repetition.
Today, my work has turned inward again, reflecting in quiet spaces where story and stillness meet.
It isn’t about chasing light anymore; it’s about finding its rhythm, the way it moves through tide, texture, and memory. Each image pairs with my original prose, reflecting on belonging, change, and the grace of what endures.
I’ve been honored with awards for both writing and photography, but what matters most is connection - that moment when someone stands in front of an image and feels something familiar, reads each writing piece and says to themselves...THAT'S IT!
Every piece I make is an attempt to hold that moment still, to let light, tide, and memory do what they’ve always done: return, soften, and begin again.
I accept commissions for fine art photography paired with original writing, creating deeply personal pieces designed around your story, space, or vision. Please contact me below to discuss commissioned work further.
